Alpha–Aero Draperies, Inc. sells all types of window treatments, including, blinds, shades, custom upholstery, draperies, and custom bedding. ADI was established in 1968 by Milt and Al Bruckner in Uncasville, CT, as a decorative fabric store.
The business quickly moved from fabrics to custom window treatments, upholstery, and slipcovers until Milt retired in 1978. Al took the business through many phases selling furniture, carpet, paint, and wallpaper. In 1985, Al decided to get out of all other business except to specialize in the window treatments business, feeling it was important to do one thing better than anyone else rather than being mediocre by trying to do too many things.
In 1996, we relocated to our present location in Niantic, CT. We have a 5000 sq. ft. showroom, office, and warehouse space in the Midway Shopping Plaza on Rt. 161.
Alpha-Aero is actually 2 different companies now known as ADI. Alpha is primarily a commercial and contract company servicing a territory of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Western Massachusetts. We do new construction and rehabilitation projects for schools, office buildings, banks, and other types of projects, specializing in projects with all types of motorized window treatments.
Alpha–Aero Draperies is primarily into residential ad office window fashions throughout southeastern Connecticut. Our original namesake was Aero Draperies, a large mid-west company who gave us permission to use their name because we were their largest distributor in New England.
